The development process in Sweden reflects the success and efficiency Essay
The development process in Sweden reflects the success and efficiency of the fiscal policies of the government - Essay Example The United Nations Development Program has developed several indicators to assess and analyze the economic and employment status of the various countries of the world. The HDI and the HPI are examples of the human development indicators that are developed to give a notion about a countryââ¬â¢s economic variables, such as poverty, human development, and unemployment. However, those indicators are not fully informative because they sometimes disregard some of the important criteria of development. For example, an HDI or an HPI of a certain country may not take into account the economic gap between the various sectors of the society of that country. In other words, there may be discrepancy between human development indicators and other indicators of poverty distribution, such as the Gini coefficient and the Lorenz curve. Thus, in this research paper, the development process in Sweden will be deeply analyzed, using the UNDP development indicators in addition to the other economic indi cators. In order for the analysis of development in Sweden to be clear and objective, it will be compared to the development processes in other countries, from various continents. ... , Africa, Central Europe and South Asia: Egypt Life expectancy at birth (years) (HDI), 2002 70.7 Adult literacy rate (% ages 15 and above) (HDI), 2002 91.0 GDP per capita (PPP US$) (HDI), 2002 3,580 Education index 0.85 Human development index (HDI) value, 2002 0.735 HDI Rank 120 Human poverty index (HPI-1) Rank 20 Human Poverty Index (HPI-1) Value (%) 12.0 Paraguay Life expectancy at birth (years) (HDI), 2002 70.7 Adult literacy rate (% ages 15 and above) (HDI), 2002 91.6 1 GDP per capita (PPP US$) (HDI), 2002 4,610 Education index 0.85 Human development index (HDI) value, 2002 0.751 HDI Rank 89 Human poverty index (HPI-1) Rank 15 Human Poverty Index (HPI-1) Value (%) 10.6 Mozambique Life expectancy at birth (years) (HDI), 2002 38.5 Adult literacy rate (% ages 15 and above) (HDI), 2002 46.5 GDP per capita (PPP US$) (HDI), 2002 1,050 Education index 0.45 Human development index (HDI) value, 2002 0.354 HDI Rank 171 Human poverty index (HPI-1) Rank 89 Human Poverty Index (HPI-1) Value (%) 49.8 Sweden : Life expectancy at birth (years) (HDI), 2002 80.0 Adult literacy rate (% ages 15 and above) (HDI), 2002 .. 1 GDP per capita (PPP US$) (HDI), 2002 26,050 Education index 0.99 Human development index (HDI) value, 2002 0.946 HDI Rank 2 Human poverty index (HPI-2) Rank 1 Human poverty index (HPI-2) Value (%) 6.5 Thailand Life expectancy at birth (years) (HDI), 2002 69.1 Adult literacy rate (% ages 15 and above) (HDI), 2002 92.6 GDP per capita (PPP US$) (HDI), 2002 7,010 Education index 0.86 Human development index (HDI) value, 2002 0.768 HDI Rank 76 Human poverty index (HPI-1) Rank 22 Human Poverty Index (HPI-1) Value (%) 13.1 Therefore, from the above tables, one can get an idea about some important development indicators, such as GDP, life expectance, and adult illiteracy.

Right to Workin in the Development of Businesses and the Economy Assignment
Right to Workin in the Development of Businesses and the Economy - Assignment Example Upon its passage, twelve states adopted the right-to-work laws, and since then eleven states have proceeded to approve the laws in their legal systems. The latest state to adopt the legal provisions is Indiana, which had earlier reviewed its right-to-work laws in 1965. However, a fresh bill on the right-to-work legal requirement was made in 2012. This protracted struggle has exposed the opposing views on the subject of labor laws, with many analysts giving differing opinions on the subject. The history of the legislation and the gist behind its provisions can be dated back to the 19th century in France. In the years preceding the French revolution, Louis Blanc came up with the term right-to-work, at a time when the nation was facing staid problems in terms of unemployment and lack of freedom or good labor laws. These issues alongside other social difficulties were the subject of the French revolution, and the term was used in subsequent situations where workers demanded certain rights to be considered. The term gained prominence in the 20th century, when it was introduced as a legal proposition, discussed and passed in the United States (Chavez & Rustin, 2010, p. 92). This legal provision was timely in order to offer freedom and equality for all citizens to pursue and acquire employment opportunities equally, at a time when the existing professionals were placing constraints on aspiring candidates. Progressively, the labor laws under the right-to-work have been adopted by other states, which have drawn better terms of work by professionals and entrepreneurs. Those who advocate for the for the right-to-work mainly point of its provision that seeks to elaborate that the ban on union shops reduces the ability of the labor unions to control their workers and maintain their allegiance to the union. They argue that with this ban in place, it is evident that labor unions have reducedà powers to bargain with the employers, by raising their cost structures in a way that allows unscrupulous members to free riding (Chavez & Rustin, 2010, p. 102).Ã

Answer the questions in Bold - Essay Example However, the deterrence of illness and injury, no matter how advanced, is unlikely to result in the total elimination of the need for further care. Where prevention is unsuccessful or not possible, the second step in the continuum is primary care. This is perhaps the most utilized part of the system, perhaps even overused, as people seek counsel at local doctors offices, and through other first-contact medical providers in their community. A large number of interactions at this level result in the satiation of the patients immediate healthcare concerns, eliminating the need to seek further types of care. When further treatment is required, secondary care services act as the next level in the continuum of care. Acute hospital services like emergency room visits, as well as appointments with specialists (that often require referrals from a primary provider) such as psychiatrists, and cardiologists. Tertiary care takes place when specialists and/or special hospitals (burn centers for example) are involved with inpatient care. Intensive rehabilitation services, and long-term inpatient care represent the next two continuum levels, respectively. The final stage in the continuum of care is comprised of end-of-life services such as hospices and palliative care treatments. As would be expected, comfort of the patient is the primary focus at the end of the healthcare continuum. Like any service, the success of delivering healthcare with consistently high quality across the continuum does not come without challenges. One of the most impactful determinants of care effectiveness is the geographic location of the population under study. As is the case with most industries, central hubs of operations tend to be placed in most populated areas (now commonly in the form of cities). While this approach is reasonable from a statistical perspective, the fact remains that this trend threatens rural populations with the unavailability

Essay Example Muslim men are obliged to offer the prayers in the mosque, whereas Muslim women may offer the prayers at home. The names of five prayers in Islam in sequence from morning to night are Fajr, Zohr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha (Huda). All Muslim men and women offer each prayer facing the Kaaââ¬â¢ba which is located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Every prayer in Islam has a defined set of Rakaââ¬â¢ts that constitute that prayer. A prayer is also offered at each Eid and the funeral of a Muslim. Prayer in Islam is essentially a spiritual connection between every Muslim and Allah. By offering the prayers five times a day, a Muslim commits to Allah that he/she believes in no creator but Allah and seeks help from Allah. Hindus pray to different gods at different times. The concept of God for Hindus is like that of a board of members, in which each god takes care of a particular area. For example, there is a god called as ââ¬Å"Laxmiâ⬠who brings wealth while there is a ââ¬Å"Durga Maaâ⬠who solves the Hindusââ¬â¢ social problems. Hindus may pray to any god at any time depending upon what they need at a particular point in time. In Hinduism, ââ¬Å"a prayer has two parts: one is soliciting a favor from the Almighty and the other is surrendering ourselves to His willâ⬠(Rajhans). Hindu men and women both go to temples for the prayers. Every Hindu family has a small temple inside the home where they have placed the idols to worship them. Many of Hindu prayers are made collectively in gatherings. These prayers include but are not limited to the ââ¬Å"Durga Maa poojaâ⬠. Hindus also have five fundamental prayers, namely ââ¬Å"the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, and Meditations on Shiv a, Ganesha, Krishna and Ramaâ⬠(Sivananda). Each of these prayers has its own distinct lyrics. Muslims pray to one God whereas Hindus pray to multiple gods. Both Muslims and Hindus have five basic prayers. Muslim men go to mosque whereas Hindu men and women both go to the temple. Muslims men and

IP Internetworking - Assignment Example It also concerns with ensuring that the wide area network at Houston is in a position of accommodating the traffic in the entire network. Whereas using static addresses has its advantages, the biggest downside is high administrative demands even when minor changes occur in the network. To cater for this, the new phase will use dynamic addressing system so that the hosts acquire Internet protocol automatically. As a result, this lowers the administrative overhead. The virtual local area network is from the departments available in XUM. Consequently, the VLANs are sales vlan2, finance vlan3, human resources vlan4, research and development vlan5, default vlan1 and management vlan6. The creation of the VLAN at XUM results from the departments available. Therefore, there are four data VLANs namely sales VLAN2, finance VLAN3, human resource VLAN4, Research, and development VLAN5. In addition, a native VLAN is the default VLAN1. Furthermore, there is a management VLAN VLAN6 that gets IP addresses to enable the management to manage the switch. It has been possible with remote control tools that allow management to ssh or telnet the switch through the management VLAN. To allow for communication of personal computers on similar VLANs but separated by a switch or a number of switches, a trunk link now exists between the switches. The manager sets the range of virtual local area networks that can communicate via the trunk link (Ahmad, 2002). Trunking is the best method. It was in comparison to creating physical relationships of various VLANs among the switches. In this case, between one switch and another there would have been six links, which would have wasted twelve ports. Further, it means that each of the individual links has different port numbers that make their management extremely difficult in case the network expands to accommodate twice or more the number of VLANS already existing. Use of dynamic trunking protocol has enabled

A current event in healthcare - Assignment Example 1990 carbon levels by 2020, due to the fact that the greenhouse emissions from the stateââ¬â¢s woodlands was underestimated during the formulation of this target. The bill which was formulated in 2006 to have the state reduce its carbon emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 had previously assumed that no net carbon emissions would come from the wild lands (Gonzalez, Battles, Collins, Robards & Saah, 2015). Achieving the balance between the storage of carbon and its emissions to the atmosphere is normally a difficult challenge. This is because, through growing vegetation, carbon is removed from the atmosphere. This in turn serves to reduce any incidence of climate change naturally. On the other hand, burned or dead and decaying vegetation releases carbon to the atmosphere. This in turn increases the incidence of climate change (University of California, 2015). Therefore, the fact that the wild lands will always have decaying vegetation at any one particular time means that incidences of carbon emissions from the wild lands shall continue. Further, the dead and dried vegetation acts as fuel for wildfires, which when it burns the vegetation, releases a huge quantity of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Thus, the recent research seeking to quantify the amount of carbon gas emission that results from Californiaââ¬â¢s wild land ecosystem has indicated that its forests has the potential of releasing a huge amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The forests acts as huge carbon reservoirs, and it was estimated that the quantity of carbon reservoir in the Californiaââ¬â¢s forest is to the tune of 850 million tons (Gonzalez, Battles, Collins, Robards & Saah, 2015). Most especially, certain types of trees and vegetations were found to be the major reservoirs of carbon. For example, the redwood forests that is near Californiaââ¬â¢s Redwood National Park was found to hold more carbon reservoirs on the ground per hectare, compared to any other ecosystem globally (Gonzalez,

Reflective Manager - Essay Example As Wiesen (2011) states, ââ¬Å"the purpose of employee development is for workers at a company to learn skills that they can use within the workplaceâ⬠. Learning is considered a key phase in the employee development process which not only improves the performance of employees but also makes them able to overcome global competition challenges successfully. Learning in organizations holds an important place because of a large number of associated benefits. Learning is basically related to the improvement in skills, abilities, and knowledge of employees through training, coaching, and direct observation. Managers and employees all benefit from the reflective process of learning. The first stage of the reflective process is awareness which leads to the critical analysis. The critical analysis plays the role of a link between past experiences and the future. The last step of the reflective learning process is learning which helps managers and employees in improving their skills, abi lities, and job performances. Learning through coaching can help Comet in many ways. As Chakravarthy (2011) states, ââ¬Å"the coach has to help the person learn the requisite attitude, behavior and skills needed to perform the job successfullyâ⬠. ... The importance of learning in organizations cannot be denied in todayââ¬â¢s world of ongoing competition. If we talk about the levels of reflection from learning perspective, we can say that at the lowest level, learning is task-specific and usually helps in problem-solving, whereas the highest level of the reflective process of learning helps managers and employees in overcoming challenges underlying attitudes, beliefs, and assumptions. Learning helps employees grasp more knowledge about the way they should perform their job responsibilities, as well as help them grow in their professional careers. Learning also helps managers in managing their entire job related activities and responsibilities in an effective manner (Peter 2012). Some of the main learning methods that can use to achieve the goals of improved organizational performance and strategic agility include on the job training, off the job training, small group discussions, and cross training. On-The-Job learning plays a vital role in boosting the learning process for employees and managers. This method focuses on improving employee efficiency using the approach of activity-based learning. Use of direct learning and temporary work rotations help managers in dealing with changing scenarios in an effective manner. Another thing which goes side by side with learning is the need to increase the level of confidence of people. Learning brings in the required level on confidence in people which is critical for increasing job productivity and performance. ââ¬Å"Organizational learning allows for teams to learn exactly what is relevant to their specific tasks and specialtiesâ⬠(Silberman 2013). Along with increasing confidence of managers and employees, on-the-job learning also helps them in reducing
